Visual Identity Design and Brand Identity
Building a recognizable brand takes more than a logo. Without a cohesive visual system – colors, typography, tone of voice, materials – your communication risks being inconsistent and undermining everything you’ve built. I specialize in visual identity design and brand identity, with an approach that combines strategic and creative branding, brand awareness and SEO. Every project is tailored – whether you’re building a new brand from scratch or revitalizing an existing one.
What is visual identity and what is it for?
Visual identity is the visible part of your brand: logo, typography, color palette, graphic materials. But on its own, it’s not enough – because an effective visual system isn’t just good-looking, it’s aligned with what the brand stands for on the inside.
That’s where brand identity comes in: values, personality, tone of voice, mission. These intangible elements are the foundation behind every visual decision – the right color, the typeface that communicates authority or warmth, the graphic mark that stays with you. When brand identity and visual identity work together, the result is a brand that’s instantly recognizable and speaks to the right people in the right way.
Think of it like a person: among all your characteristics, some make you immediately recognizable to others – the way you dress, the way you speak, a skill that sets you apart. A brand works the same way: it needs to define and highlight its best qualities to be distinctive and relevant in its field.
I focus on every aspect that builds a solid, recognizable visual identity:
- Visual elements – logo, typography, colors, graphic materials
- Values and mission – the principles that define the business and make it unique
- Customer experience – how people interact with and perceive the brand
- Differentiation – standing out from the competition with a strong brand identity
- Recognition – building brand awareness for immediate identification
- Credibility – strengthening trust with both existing and potential clients
Who needs visual identity design?
A strong visual identity isn’t just for large companies. It’s for anyone who wants to be recognizable, credible and consistent in the way they present themselves to the world.
- Startups and new businesses
to establish a clear identity from the start, without having to redesign everything later
- SMEs and established companies
to update an image that no longer reflects where the business is today, or to bring consistency to a fragmented communication
- Hospitality and retail businesses
bars, restaurants, shops, hotels: where the visual experience is part of the product itself
- Independent professionals
to build a personal brand identity that communicates authority and attracts the right clients
- Associations and nonprofits
to communicate values and mission in a recognizable and professional way
If any of these sounds like you, you’re in the right place.
Does this work for an existing brand?
Yes, and this is often where the work makes the biggest difference.
Brand identity isn’t static: it needs to evolve alongside the market, industry trends and the changing needs of your business. If your brand no longer feels like you, if it’s sending the wrong message, or has become inconsistent over time, there are several ways we can work on it.
Updating the visual identity
Client expectations shift as markets evolve. I update the logo, colors, typography and graphic materials to to align them with current trends, without losing the brand’s essence. When a deeper change is needed, this is called rebranding:a complete redesign that preserves the brand’s values while fully renewing how they’re expressed.
Refining the message
Sometimes the visual identity isn’t the problem: it’s how the brand communicates its purpose and values. I work on defining key values, optimizing the tone of voice and building an effective storytelling, because a well-told story creates emotional connection and strengthens brand awareness.
Creating consistency across all channels
Clients interact with brands across multiple platforms: every touchpoint needs to tell the story in the same way. I bring together physical and digital communication materials, optimize the online presence and align brand identity and SEO to ensure a recognizable experience everywhere.
What does the service include?
Every project is tailored, not everyone needs everything. Get in touch to find out which elements are right for you and receive a custom quote.
Logo design
I develop the logo in all its versions – primary composition, secondary and favicon – and in all color variants: full color, reversed and monochrome. A logo built to work across every medium and scale.
Typography
I select the typefaces that will define the brand’s communication online and offline – chosen for their fit with the brand’s personality, not out of habit.
Color palette
Color choices are never arbitrary. I work from the principles of visual perception and the psychological messages that colors carry. Every color has a specific role within the brand’s visual system.
Custom graphic elements
Patterns, geometric motifs, custom icons – elements that reinforce the brand’s personality and ensure visual consistency across all materials, without falling back on generic icon sets.
Motion graphics and animated identity
A static logo isn’t always enough. I develop animated versions of the visual identity – motion logos, dynamic graphic elements, video templates for social media – for brands that want to be recognizable in motion too.
Social media templates
Ready-to-use templates, visually aligned with the new identity – for those who manage their own social media without compromising on professional communication.
Promotional materials
Business cards, brochures, catalogs, flyers – any physical or digital material, designed in line with the visual identity.
Brand guidelines
The document that defines how every element of the visual system should be used – colors, typography, logo, tone of voice. Built to be flexible across different channels: digital, print, social, motion. The foundation for keeping the brand consistent over time.
SEO integration
Every visual and written element is designed with online visibility in mind – from social profiles to web pages. Brand identity and SEO aren’t two separate things: they work together from the start.
Packaging and physical materials
Visual identity goes beyond the screen. It extends into the physical world, where every tangible element is an opportunity to tell your brand’s story and create a consistent brand experience.
- Packaging
Packaging does more than protect a product – it’s a storytelling tool. I integrate the visual identity into creative, functional solutions that reflect the essence of the brand.
- Promotional materials
Business cards, catalogs, flyers, brochures – every printed piece is a touchpoint with the client and needs to speak the same visual language as the rest of the communication.
- Physical and digital consistency
I align printed materials and digital presence to ensure a cohesive identity – from the website to the packaging. Where relevant, I include elements that connect the physical and digital worlds, such as QR codes or custom URLs, to create an integrated experience.
What does working together look like?
Tell me about your project.
We’ll figure out the rest together.
Research and listening
Before any sketches or concepts, I analyze your industry: competitors, visual references and the visual language typical of your market. Then I listen – to understand your brand’s values, the goals you want to reach and the audience you want to speak to. This is the most important phase: without a clear direction, design is just decoration.
Strategy and visual concept
With all the informations gathered, I build the visual identity system: brand study, definition of the visual language – typography, colors, graphic marks, image style – and positioning concept. This is where the identity starts to form, before it’s developed into individual materials and assets.
Design and development
I develop all the agreed visual system elements – from the logo in all its versions to the communication materials. Every element is designed to work together with the others, online and offline.
Delivery and brand guidelines
Once the project is concluded, I deliver all final files and the brand guidelines – the reference document for using the identity correctly over time. I don’t disappear after delivery: I remain available for support and future developments.

FAQ
I only need a logo, is that possible?
A logo without a cohesive visual system rarely works on its own. Without defined typography, colors and guidelines, every new material – a social post, a brochure, a business card – becomes a chance for the brand to go off track. That’s why I work on complete visual identities, not isolated elements.
What's the difference between visual identity and brand identity?
Visual identity is the visible part of a brand: logo, colors, typography, graphic materials. Brand identity is broader: it also includes values, personality, tone of voice and the way a company relates to its clients. Visual identity is the face of the brand; brand identity is its character.
Can I update an existing brand, or do I need to start over?
Both options are possible. If you’re building a new brand, we work on a complete visual identity from the ground up. If you have an existing brand identity that isn’t working – confused communication, inconsistent visual elements, a logo that no longer represents you – we can work on specific elements or redesign the identity as a whole, keeping what works and updating what doesn’t.
How long does a visual identity project take?
It depends on the complexity. A basic visual identity typically takes 3-4 weeks; a complete project including strategy, brand guidelines and materials can take 6-10 weeks. We’ll nail down the exact timeline together during the initial consultation.
Do you work with international clients?
Yes. I’m based in Italy and work with clients worldwide. The entire process happens online, so location is never an issue.
